WASHINGTON – This afternoon, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) welcomed U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx to Lincoln, Nebraska. Foxx travelled to Lincoln to hear from Nebraska transportation stakeholders and listen to their concerns and suggestions. Fischer and Foxx also had the opportunity to discuss their shared commitment to long-term infrastructure policy and funding. Senator Fischer released the following photo after the event:

Senator Fischer and Secretary Foxx meet with Nebraska transportation stakeholders at UNL this afternoon.

Senator Fischer and Secretary Foxx held a press conference this afternoon at Frontier Harley Davidson in Lincoln following a roundtable discussion with Nebraska stakeholders and a site visit of the Diverging Diamond Interchange Highway project. The roundtable earlier in the day was hosted at the University of Nebraska’s Whittier Transportation.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Senate passed the DRIVE Act – a bipartisan bill that would authorize surface transportation projects over the next six years. Senator Fischer is a leading voice in the Senate on transportation issues. She serves as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security. From 2007 to 2012, Fischer was the Chairman of the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee in the Nebraska Unicameral legislature.
