Senators Fischer and Johanns Introduced Bill to Name Post Office in Honor of Chadron’s Fallen Hero

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement this morning, marking the dedication ceremony of the Sergeant Cory Mracek Post Office in Chadron, Nebraska:

“The Chadron community now has an important reminder of Cory and his selfless sacrifice in protecting our freedom. Cory’s brave spirit represents the very best of our nation and the depth of character embodied by the Panhandle community. I know Cory is smiling down today as we dedicate this post office in his memory.”

Today, Chadron’s Main Street post office will be formally designated as the “Sergeant Cory Mracek Memorial Post Office.” Sergeant Cory Mracek, United States Army (USA) was a Chadron native who was killed by an improvised explosive device while serving our country overseas in 2004. He was 26 years old.

Senator Fischer was an original cosponsor of legislation introduced by then-Senator Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) to designate the Chadron Post Office in honor of SGT Mracek (USA). The bill was signed into law on November 26, 2014.
