Fischer Reacts to North Platte Post Office Decision

“The best decisions impacting our communities aren’t made by bureaucrats; they are made by the citizens who live and work here.”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement this morning regarding the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) decision to relocate the North Platte Main Post Office:

“I am deeply concerned and disappointed to learn this morning that the U.S. Postal Service has decided to ignore the objections of the citizens of North Platte and advance their plans to relocate the North Platte Main Post Office.

“Throughout this process, the views and voices of North Platte citizens have not been fully included in the conversation. That is unacceptable.

“I sent a letter to the Postmaster General, asking for an additional public meeting so that members of this community could join the conversation, and offer their views.

“Despite my concerns and yours, the USPS is moving forward. I will continue to press USPS and all government agencies for enhanced accountability and transparency – both of which were lacking throughout this process. My staff and I will continue to work with the city and surrounding community on ways to ensure that any adverse impact to North Platte citizens is minimized.

“The best decisions impacting our communities aren’t made by bureaucrats; they are made by the citizens who live and work here.”
