WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) is expected to retain the following Senate committees in the 114th Congress:

  • Senate Committee on Armed Service
  • Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
  • Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works
  • Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship

Committee assignments are subject to approval of the Senate Republican Conference and the full Senate, which is expected to take place in early January.

“These committee assignments will help me to continue working to advance Nebraska’s priorities in the U.S. Senate,” Fischer said. “National defense is the federal government’s primary responsibility, and I will continue my work on the Armed Services Committee to ensure that our military men and women have the tools they need to successfully complete their mission and safely return home. I will continue my efforts on the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee to fight for improved access to telecommunications services in all areas of America, and work modernize outdated laws and regulations that impede the progress of an ever-growing tech sector. As federal agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency continue to roll out costly regulations that jeopardize the economic security of America’s middleclass families, I will keep pushing for regulatory relief as a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee. Finally, small businesses are integral to the health of our economy. As a member of the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, I will continue pushing for policies that empower job creators and promote the growth and wellbeing of America’s small businesses.”
