Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) announced today that she has cosponsored a bipartisan Senate resolution (S. Res. 81) commemorating March 19, 2013 as the 40th anniversary of National Ag Day. The resolution was authored by Senator Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) and approved unanimously by the Senate this evening.

“Since 1973, the National Ag Day program has celebrated American agriculture annually to increase public awareness of the central role agriculture plays in our society. In Nebraska, farmers, ranchers and other members of the agriculture industry work diligently year-round to produce a safe, abundant and affordable food supply for the rest of the world,” Fischer said.

“I’m pleased to cosponsor this resolution commemorating the 40th anniversary of National Ag Day and honoring those across Nebraska, and the nation, whose work in agriculture continues to drive our economy and meet the growing need for food, feed, fuel and fiber.”
