WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Deb Fischer and Mike Johanns are encouraging Nebraska students with strong records of community service to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Award 2015 program.
Applications are being accepted now through November 4th for eligible students in grades 5-12. Two Nebraska students will be selected to represent the state; they will be awarded a $1,000 award, a silver engraved medallion, and an all-expense paid trip in May to Washington, D.C.
From the 102 honorees, 10 will be selected to receive an additional award for their service and volunteer spirit. These 10 will receive an additional $5,000 award and a $5,000 grant to be given to the non-profit charitable organization of the recipients’ choice.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program is the largest youth program of its kind in the nation. Focused on youth recognition, the program has honored more than 100,000 youth volunteers over the past 19 years.
