WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) has joined a resolution introduced by Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) proposing a constitutional amendment to limit the Supreme Court of the United States to nine justices.

“Packing our nation’s highest court would undermine our system of checks and balances and erode Americans’ faith in our judiciary. This measure would maintain nine justices on the Supreme Court, ensuring that it remains an independent branch of government,” said Senator Fischer.

The amendment explicitly states that the Supreme Court of the U.S. shall be composed of no more than nine justices. Congress would have the power to enforce this measure.
