BELLEVUE, NEB. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the ranking member of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee, lead a congressional delegation of members from the committee to visit U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) at Nebraska’s Offutt Air Force Base as well as Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota.

“The men and women of Offutt and Minot Air Force Bases are vital to our nation’s nuclear deterrent. They showcase the Heartland’s tremendous contributions to the defense of our country. Nuclear deterrence is the most important mission for our military; our security depends upon it. I was pleased to lead a group of my colleagues to visit these bases and observe first-hand all our service members do to keep our nation safe. I want to thank them for their service, and for taking the time to educate us about their mission. I also want to thank General Brown for facilitating the trip and traveling with us,” said Senator Fischer.

More information:

General Brown is the 22nd Chief of Staff of the Air Force and its senior-most officer. The visit provided senators and staff an opportunity to see components of U.S. nuclear forces at Minot Air Force Base and HQ U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) at Offutt Air Force Base.

Senator Fischer was the chairman of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee from 2017 to 2021 and is now the top Republican on the subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over STRATCOM.
