Fischer Reacts to Iran Deal in New Video
WASHINGTON – This morning, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released a new video highlighting her concerns regarding the Iran nuclear agreement and what it means for national security. Fischer is chairman of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
Last week, the Obama administration announced a new nuclear agreement with Iran. Congress has 60 days to review and approve this deal. Yet on Monday, the Obama administration presented the deal to the United Nations before consulting with Congress. The U.N. Security Council voted in favor of the agreement the same day. Below is the full text of Senator Fischer’s remarks in the video: We live in a very, very dangerous world, and this agreement that we made with Iran, a country that has proven to us time and again that it cannot be trusted. We, as the elected representatives of the people here in Congress, have a duty. [We] have a responsibility, an obligation to spend the next 60 days looking over this agreement… to have a good, solid understanding on what this deal is. And then make our judgement on whether it’s a good deal for the people of this country – or not. And for the administration to go to the United Nations, before they would come to the United States Congress… it’s just unheard of. Click here to watch the full video. # # # |
