Senator Fischer to Host U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao in Omaha

Fischer and Sec. Chao Will Collect Input From Nebraska Transportation Stakeholders

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) will welcome U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao to Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Senator Fischer and Secretary Chao will hold a brief media availability following a roundtable discussion with a representative from the Nebraska Department of Transportation and leaders from Nebraska’s trucking, rail, aviation, and construction industries.

Senator Fischer is a leading voice in the Senate on transportation issues. She serves as the Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security.

Secretary Elaine L. Chao is currently the U. S. Secretary of Transportation. This is her second cabinet position. She served as U.S. Secretary of Labor from 2001-January 2009, and is the first Asian American woman to be appointed to the President's cabinet in American history.
