WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee and chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Safety, held a hearing today on the Department of Transportation’s (DoT) infrastructure development programs, focusing on the Build America Bureau, the Rural Opportunities to Use Transportation for Economic Success (ROUTES) Initiative, and the Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing (RRIF) Express programs.

“Maintaining and building transportation infrastructure is critical to the Heartland in order to keep our families and businesses connected. I was glad to hear more from DoT about how rural stakeholders can access resources from the RRIF Express and the ROUTES Initiative programs. Overall, it was a very productive discussion about how Congress and the administration can work together to support transportation projects in rural America,” said Senator Fischer.
