WASHINGTON, D.C. – This morning, General John Hyten testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee as part of his nomination hearing to become the next head of U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement after today’s hearing:

“I appreciated General Hyten’s candor and openness during today’s nomination hearing. I look forward to continuing our discussions and working with him as the nomination process enters the final stages.”

General Hyten currently serves as commander of Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. If confirmed by the Senate, General Hyten would succeed Admiral Cecil Haney as the next commander of U.S. Strategic Command.
