WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, released the following statement after the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) announced it will be investing $20 million over the next five years to the state of Nebraska to expand research and workforce development opportunities for quantum science and technologies across multiple universities and communities: 

“As technology continues to evolve, this critical investment from the NSF will ensure our state’s universities and students remain at the forefront of scientific discovery. I am pleased that this federal funding will benefit Nebraska colleges and communities over the next five years.”

The funding comes from the U.S. National Science Foundation's Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). This award will go to partnerships among the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska Omaha, University of Nebraska at Kearney, and Creighton University with Nebraska community and tribal colleges, including the Nebraska Indian Community College, Little Priest Tribal College, and Central Community College.
