WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee and Ranking Member of the Surface Transportation, Maritime, Freight, and Ports Subcommittee, released the following statement after the Federal Aviation Administration announced Miller Field in Valentine will receive a nearly $3.4 million federal grant:
“The Airport Improvement Grant program helps the development, improvement, and safety of airport infrastructure. This significant federal investment in Valentine’s regional airport will ensure the community can continue to access safe and efficient air travel. I was proud to support the 2020 omnibus legislation which made this grant possible.
The nearly $3.4 million in funding will go to Valentine Municipal Airport to aid in the design and reconstruction of a runway. The funding for the Airport Improvement Grant program was included in the 2020 omnibus appropriations bill.
