WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement today after President Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan before September 11, 2021:
“The American people are tired of the conflict in Afghanistan, and I share their frustration with what has been at times a lack of progress. I am concerned, however, that without proper measures in place, there is a strong possibility that terrorist groups could expand their presence in the region. The Biden Administration must take proactive measures to prevent this from happening, and provide Congress with concrete details for their plan to do so.”
