Dear Friend,

Summer has finally arrived! The sun is shining, temperatures are rising, and work on Capitol Hill is in full swing. From President Trump signing my resolution into law to securing the Senate passage of my Paid Family and Medical Leave policy, I’ve had a productive few weeks working on behalf of Nebraska.

Exciting news: President Trump signed my resolution of disapproval into law!

I have been clear from the start – one state should not dictate emission policies for the entire country. California’s ACT regulation would have increased costs on American consumers and crippled the truck manufacturing industry nationwide by overloading companies and truckers with expensive, heavy-handed requirements.

My commonsense resolution keeps government overreach at bay, protects consumers, and supports America’s free markets. I am grateful President Trump signed it into law.

Passing the One Big, Beautiful Bill
Last November, Americans spoke loud and clear: they want safer communities, lower energy costs, and real relief for working families. The Senate delivered by passing the One Big, Beautiful Bill – blocking a $4 trillion tax hike and investing in border security to keep America safe. It also locks in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, saving the average Nebraska family $2,400 a year. Click here to read my full statement.

My Paid Family and Medical Leave Tax Credit included in the One Big, Beautiful Bill
I am pleased that the One Big, Beautiful Bill also included my Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) Tax Credit and makes it permanent! Since securing the nation’s first-ever and only PFML policy in 2017, it has helped employers of all sizes offer paid leave to their workers voluntarily, rather than through a government mandate. Now, employers across America have the certainty they need to support employees as they care for a newborn or an aging parent without sacrificing their job or paycheck.

Applauding the EPA’s Renewable Fuel Standard Volume Requirements
The EPA’s newly proposed rule rightly recognizes the vital role America’s farmers and biofuel producers play in strengthening our energy independence. Setting the conventional volume for fuels like ethanol at 15 billion gallons and boosting biomass-based diesel well above expectations is a strong win for Nebraska and the rest of rural America.

I thank the administration for their continued commitment to agriculture and biofuels – their leadership supports Nebraska’s corn, soybean, and biofuel industries. I look forward to working with them to ensure that these promising proposals are finalized and fully implemented.

Response to U.S. Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites
In response to the United States striking Iran’s nuclear sites, I issued a statement emphasizing that Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon. Read below:

“For decades, Iran has chanted ‘death to America’ and pledged to wipe Israel off the map. When foreign adversaries pledge to destroy us, we should believe them.

“President Trump has always been clear: Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon – and I agree. Today, his administration took the necessary steps to keep a nuclear weapon out of Iran’s reach, and I am grateful to the service members who successfully carried out the mission.”

Securing America’s Satellite Systems
Americans rely on crucial communications services provided by our satellite systems now more than ever.

That is why Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and I introduced the Secure Space Act of 2025, which will strengthen our communications infrastructure against these vulnerabilities to ensure that Americans have access to secure networks.

Bolstering America’s Nuclear Enterprise
Restoring peace through strength and keeping the homeland safe means maintaining a credible, modernized nuclear deterrent. We cannot meet the deterrence requirements of the future unless we recapitalize failing facilities and infrastructure dating back to the Manhattan Project.

That is why I introduced the NNSA Infrastructure Improvements Act. It will empower the National Nuclear Security Administration to build upon the work they’ve done and give Congress actionable information so that we responsibly plan for and fund the specialized facilities that help design, produce, and store the weapons needed to keep America safe.
