Urging President Trump to declare Nebraska wildfires a major disaster

As you know, recent wildfires burned up to 900,000 acres across Nebraska. In response, I led the Nebraska delegation in requesting that President Trump support Governor Pillen’s request for a major disaster declaration. This designation would unlock federal assistance resources to aid in wildfire relief efforts. Read our full letter below.

Good news: U.S. House approves year-round E15 bill

After years of fighting for year-round E15, I’m encouraged to see the House finally approve this effort. Though long overdue, this is a major step toward securing stability and certainty for American producers and consumers – without any government mandates.

From the Senate, I pushed EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to debunk several common misconceptions about efforts to allow nationwide year-round E15. Administrator Zeldin confirmed:

  • My E15 bill is NOT a mandate;
  • We have had nationwide year-round E15 for 8 years through temporary administrative waivers, yet the sky did not fall;
  • No refiners have closed because consumers had a choice to purchase E15 year-round.

Honoring Nebraska law enforcement and fallen Nebraska State Patrol Trooper

Last year, we mourned the loss of Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Kyle McAcy, who served our communities for a decade. In the Senate, I was proud to cosponsor a resolution honoring his service and recognizing National Police Week. Thank you to Nebraska’s men and women in blue for your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our people and state. Click here to read more.

Outlining my defense priorities at Politico’s Security Summit

As a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, I was pleased to join Politico’s Security Summit to discuss my defense priorities. I also discussed topics like my recent official visit to China, nuclear modernization, President Trump’s record $1.5 trillion defense budget request, and more. Click here to watch the full conversation.

Read my recent op-ed in the Omaha World-Herald

I recently returned from an official trip to China and let me tell you what was most on my mind while there: Nebraska. That’s why we brought up market access and non-tariff barriers for Nebraska farmers and ranchers who are being shut out of one of the largest consumer markets on earth. Click here to read the full op-ed.

Congratulating NASA’s Artemis II crew

I had the pleasure of visiting with NASA’s Artemis II crew following their ten-day trip around the moon last month. Having just traveled farther into space than any human in history, they have paved the way for us to establish a permanent presence on the moon!
