As the summer comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the exciting moments from my time traveling across Nebraska this August. From Omaha to Scottsbluff, and many stops in between, I enjoyed visiting our local communities and hearing your concerns on the important issues facing our nation. Since January, I’ve hosted 26 listening sessions and community coffees throughout Nebraska, eight of which were held this past August. This month, I welcomed officials from Washington to our state to learn firsthand how their policies are impacting our communities. On August 3, I chaired a field hearing of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship in Lincoln. We heard from several Nebraska entrepreneurs on the regulatory roadblocks that are making it harder to start and grow businesses in our state. Later that month, I welcomed FCC Commissioner Michael O’Rielly to Grand Island for a roundtable on broadband access for Nebraska’s agriculture producers. These events allow me to connect Nebraska stakeholders with national policymakers. They also reinforce my belief that the best ideas come from outside of Washington. I hope you had a wonderful summer and wish you and your family all the best as you prepare for a new school year.
