LINCOLN – Today, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) hosted a roundtable discussion with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies at the Justice and Law Enforcement Center in Lincoln, Nebraska to hear about the challenges they face, resources they need, and emerging public safety issues affecting their communities.
“Every day, the men and women who make up our law enforcement agencies step into danger to keep Nebraskans safe. For that, we owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude,” Fischer said. “My job today is to hear how I can help deliver the resources they need to be successful on the ground.”
The discussion focused on how federal policies, grant programs, and interagency partnerships are working and identifying gaps that may warrant congressional oversight or legislative action.
This was a forum for local, state, and federal partners to share practical perspectives on how Congress can better support efforts to recruit and retain officers, combat violent crime, drug trafficking, and crimes against children, strengthen interagency coordination, and acquire critical equipment and technology.
In fiscal year 2026, Fischer secured over $9.2 million for law enforcement projects across the state through her role on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
