WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) has been named the 13th most effective senator for the 114th Congress by the Center for Effective Lawmaking (CEL). CEL is a joint initiative by the University of Virginia’s Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and Vanderbilt University. The center uses data to explore how successful members of Congress are at moving legislation through the legislative process and into law.
“The legislative process is often slow and tedious, but through patience, tenacity, and hard work, it’s possible to move important changes to policy across the finish line. I’m proud of my legislative successes so far in a variety of areas, including enacting policies to update Nebraska’s infrastructure, reduce burdensome federal regulations affecting agriculture, and provide Silicon Prairie innovators with additional tools to prosper. Still, we all know there’s more work to accomplish for our families, and I’m going to continue to work together with the people of our state to provide the meaningful results Nebraskans deserve,” said Fischer.
The score Senator Fischer received from the CEL is based on the number of bills a member sponsors, how far the bills advance through the lawmaking process, and how important these legislative items are.
The CEL also ranked Fischer as the 10th most effective Republican senator in the 114th Congress. During the 113th Congress, she ranked as the 18th most effective Republican senator.
