Village of Benedict to Receive Rural Development Grant

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, issued the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that the Village of Benedict in York County will receive a $93,000 grant from the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program:

“This Water and Waste Disposal grant from the USDA is positive news for the Village of Benedict. The investment will protect residents’ access to clean drinking water. It will also help prevent the water system’s pipes from freezing as a result of extremely cold weather.”

More information on the grant from the USDA:

This rural development investment will be used to create a new well that connects to an existing drinking water system to lower nitrate levels and cover construction cost overruns for the Village of Benedict. The investment will also fund a higher volume water supply pipe that will solve freezing concerns for the Village’s 234 residents. Additional funding includes a $500,000 Emergency Community Water Assistance Grant awarded in FY 2017.
