OMAHA, Neb. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer’s (R-Neb.) office is once again teaming up with the American Red Cross to help Nebraskans send holiday wishes to veterans, members of the military, and their families. This year, cards collected through the program will be delivered to current and former service members in local Nebraska communities.
Senator Fischer released the following statement encouraging Nebraskans to participate:
“The Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign is a special way to share our holiday cheer and deep appreciation with our veterans and service members. This year, these well-wishes will go to men and women right here in Nebraska: from those serving at Offutt Air Force Base to Nebraska veterans at VFW posts across the state. I hope you will join me this holiday season in expressing gratitude for all these Nebraskans have done to make our country and our communities stronger.”
Nebraskans wanting to participate can make or purchase a card to sign and either mail or deliver these cards to Senator Fischer’s Omaha office. Cards must be received by December 6, 2016. They may be dropped off or mailed to the following address:
Office of Senator Deb Fischer
11819 Miracle Hills Drive
Suite 205
Omaha, NE 68145
To ensure holiday cards can be quickly screened and mailed, the Red Cross asks participants to follow the guidelines listed below:
- Address the card “Dear Service Member, Veteran or Military Member”. Limit the use of any specific branch of service.
- Cards should not contain glitter.
- Submit cards that are printed without the year 2016; generic cards are best.
- Limit any items in the card such as photos or gifts. If these items are included in the card, they will be removed.
