Office of Senator Deb Fischer Intern Program

Are you an effective communicator interested in learning more about the legislative process? An internship with U.S. Senator Deb Fischer’s office will provide you with first hand experience of U.S. Senate operations and the opportunity to serve the Nebraska constituency.

Applicants should possess strong writing, research, and public speaking skills with attention to detail.

Dependent upon your assigned location, your responsibilities may include:

Leading U.S. Capitol tours
Processing constituent correspondence
Attend briefings and committee hearings
Compile press clips, tracking legislation
Monitor Senate floor proceedings
Draft correspondence
Assist constituents with federal casework
Conduct legislative research

Internships are available throughout the year in the Washington, D.C. office and the Nebraska offices. Priority is given to Nebraska applicants. The selection process is competitive and ongoing. Internship offers will be extended as positions remain available. Each internship session will close as soon as the available positions are filled. Internship sessions are as follows:

Spring:  January – May

Summer:  June – August

Fall:  September – December
