Academy Nominations

Note: Nomination applications are due to my office by October 15, 2024

The Nebraska Delegation will host one more Service Academy Day event in 2024.  Please join us on Sunday, September 15th in Lincoln (Lincoln Northwest High School – 4901 W. Holdrege Street.)  These events are for all high school students (Freshman through Seniors) that are interested in attending one of the U.S. Service Academies. The presentation details the congressional nomination process and includes information about the service academy application process.  If you missed these events, you may review the presentation here.

Each year Senators have the privilege of nominating (or recommending) a select group of outstanding young men and women to attend one of our five United States Service Academies: United States Air Force Academy, United States Coast Guard Academy, United States Merchant Marine Academy, United States Military Academy, or United States Naval Academy. Links to the respective academies and their application processes are below.

Each applicant for a nomination from my office must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Age: Must be at least 17 years old, but not yet 23 years of age (for the Merchant Marine Academy, not yet 25 years of age) on July 1 of the year you will enter the academy.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen and a legal and permanent resident of Nebraska.
  • Marital Status: Must be unmarried, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.

Each academy requires that you submit an application to it, as well as to my office. Due to the large volume of applications, it is best to start the process with the academy of your choice as soon as possible. Upon filling out and submitting your information below, you will be contacted by one of my staff members. If you have any additional questions about the military service academy nomination process, please don’t hesitate to call my Omaha Office at 402-391-3411.
