Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement this afternoon, joining her colleagues in supporting Senator David Vitter’s (R-La.) legislation to limit Congressional terms:

“Once again, I’m proud to join my colleagues in co-sponsoring a term limit proposal that will bring common sense to governing. This legislation will help ensure our tradition of a citizen legislature remains firm for future generations.”

On January 6, 2015, Sen. Fischer joined Sen. Vitter as one of nine original cosponsors to a Constitutional amendment resolution that will set term limits at two terms in the Senate and three terms in the House. Terms served in Congress before the date of the ratification of this amendment would not be taken into account in determining eligibility for election. Fischer cosponsored this same resolution in the 113th Congress on June 9, 2014.
