WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement after U.S. Capitol Hill Police Officer Brian Sicknick died from injuries after responding to riots at the U.S. Capitol:

"Officer Sicknick lost his life protecting our country against an assault on the seat of our democracy. In America, we must always respect the rule of law and the law enforcement officers who uphold it. I send my deepest condolences to Officer Sicknick’s family, as well as the families of the four other people who died.”
