WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer, chairman of the Senate subcommittee on Strategic Forces, released the following statement after the Pentagon announced North Korea conducted its second intercontinental ballistic missile test this month:

“Today, there is yet another report of a North Korean missile test. As I have said in the past, we must enhance our missile defense to ensure we stay ahead of this growing threat and put stronger pressure on this dangerous nation, as well as its patrons, China and Russia.

“The bickering at the United Nations has kept the Security Council from passing a firm response to the last North Korean test and is further proof that we must take more unilateral measures, particularly secondary sanctions against those who enable the regime. Sitting by and allowing these tests to continue is not an option.”
